Black adults' views on what U.S. institutions are designed to hold them back 2023
According to a survey conducted in 2023, 74 percent of Black adults believed that the prison system was designed to hold Black people back a great deal or a fair amount in the United States. A further 70 percent agreed that the courts and judicial process was designed to hold Black people back, while 68 percent shared this belief about the U.S. institution of policing.
