In 2023, social media platforms in Hong Kong saw a 14 percent increase in ad spending compared to the previous year. Hong Kong's ad spending totaled at 30 billion Hong Kong dollars and about 15 percent of which was from social ads.

Excluded in the calculations were house ads and MTR Urban Lines ad spend in September 2022. For digital ad spending, only display ads were covered and search ads were not included. Social media ad spend referred to the branded content ad spend of Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
