A worldwide study auditing 1,851 direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands showed that companies gave high priority to marketing technologies. 75 percent of surveyed companies used marketing software Klavyio, while 24 percent of them opted for Attentive. Affiliate marketing software provided by Refersion was used by 10 percent of D2C brands worldwide.

The source selected 1,851 brands with the following characteristics:
-consumer brand.
-digital-first.
-strong focus on own sale channel rather than other marketplaces or distributors.
The study excluded media and software companies, retailers and distributors, and food subscription services, traditional brands mainly selling offline.
