Preferences for official websites and physical stores were the leading reasons why consumers in Japan never made social commerce transactions, as revealed in a survey conducted in February 2023 by Rakuten Insight. While 53 percent of female respondents preferred purchases made on official websites or physical stores over social media-enabled transactions, the share was slightly lower among male respondents.
