A study measuring the funding activity of 107 startups showed that marketplaces would obtain the highest estimated funding amounts over the first five financial years of activity. Considering the fifth financial year, a marketplace could get up to 436.1 million U.S. dollars in funding. In turn, direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce startups selling physical products were the least successful, with a max of 22.2 million U.S. dollars in funding. B2B and B2C tech providers stood in the mid-range, with B2B tech startups estimated to outdo the B2C equivalents.
