Between 2020 and 2023, consumption of solar thermal heat across the European Union saw a mostly upward trend, amounting to some 2.7 million metric tons of oil equivalent in the latter year. This was an increase of some eight percent when compared to 2020 levels. Solar thermal heat consumption in the EU is forecast to continue growing over the next decade, reaching four million metric tons of oil equivalent by the year 2030.
