On a global scale, the majority of natural gas production is located onshore. In 2022, the natural gas production from onshore projects accounted for 2.75 trillion cubic meters (tcm), compared to 1.05 tcm produced offshore, and 200 billion cubic meters produced at onshore/offshore hybrid locations. Production from offshore natural gas projects is expected to increase considerably between 2022 and 2050, from 1.05 tcm to 2.2 tcm.
