Natural gas rents as a share of GDP in Africa 2021, by country
In 2021, natural gas rents accounted for almost eight percent of Algeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The country had the highest natural gas rents on the African continent in that year. Equatorial Guinea also relied significantly on the natural gas industry, as rents reached 6.63 percent of the economy. Libya followed with natural gas rents accounting for roughly 4.6 percent of the GDP.
