The global production of natural gas in 2021 through existing projects amounted to four trillion cubic meters (tcm). Natural gas production through new projects is expected to increase over the next few decades, reaching an estimated total of 2.4 tcm in 2050, while production from existing and sanctioned projects are forecast to decrease to 1.4 tcm and 0.15 tcm, respectively, by 2050.
