According to a survey about the movie consumer behavior in China released in April 2022, over 61 percent of respondents said they received movie information from short video apps like Douyin and Kuaishou. Online movie ticket sales sites, such as Maoyan and Taopiaopiao, were another common information source for getting movie news.
Popular channels of receiving movie news in China as of March 2022
Among the respondents, 52.8% were males and 47.2% were females; 33.3% were 25 years old or below and 66.7% were older than 25 years; 13.8% lived in tier-1 cities, 44.9% in tier-2, 19.5% in tier-3, and 21.8% were from tier-4 cities.
