Echo chambers in instant messaging apps have restricted users to access diverse viewpoints in Taiwan. According to a survey released in July 2022, over two-thirds of Taiwanese users found that they were at least somewhat in an echo chamber when using instant messaging apps. Comparatively, approximately 5.2 percent of respondents could find totally different viewpoints in such apps.
