The combined emissions of 15 of the world's largest meat and dairy companies were estimated at more than 700 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e) in financial year 2021, which exceeds the total emissions of several entire countries. For example, emissions in Germany, the largest polluter in the EU, were 729 MtCO2e in 2020. The combined emissions of these 15 major livestock companies are also higher than some of the biggest and most polluting fossil companies.
