As of 2022, chatbots were the type of technology mostly used by companies in South Africa for marketing purposes at 14 percent of companies, followed by cloud applications and artificial intelligence (13 and 11 percent, respectively). The rates sank considerably compared to the previous two years. That year, only 28 percent of the companies reported allocating a budget for using new technology for marketing.
