Unemployment rate in Brazil 1999-2023, by gender

In 2023, 9.69 percent of the female labor force was out of employment, a considerably higher share than the one experienced by men, among which 6.6 percent were unemployed. The unemployment rate of both genders has experienced a similar trend since 1999, although the size of the gender gap has fluctuated remarkably. Overall, both female and male unemployment have experienced an upward trend after 2014.
