Holiday Inn is the most well-known hotel brand in the U.S. Founded in 1952, the American chain of hotels is recognized by 86 percent of internet respondents. Third on this list is another division of the same brand, Holiday Inn Express, as the mid-priced hotel chain boasts 81 percent brand awareness in the United States. Also known by 81 percent of respondents and therefore also on the shared third place are Days Inn and Marriot. Hilton comes in second.
For this study, brand awareness was surveyed employing the concept of aided brand recognition, showing respondents both the brand's logo and the written brand name.
