When it comes to the most well-known grocery stores in the UK, the top two spots are claimed by UK-based brands. This includes Tesco and Asda, as each one of these British retailers is recognized by 96 and 95 percent respectively of internet respondents. Third on this list is the German discount retailer chain Aldi, followed by Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.
For this study, brand awareness was surveyed employing the concept of aided brand recognition, showing respondents both the brand's logo and the written brand name.
