The United States and Russia have already seen more months with such conditions in the 2020 to 2022 time period than in the preceding years between 2009 and 2019. Too hot (cold) and too rainy (dry) months are defined as months with average temperature (in °C) or precipitations (in mm) outside the 90% confidence interval of recorded values. For instance, a too cold January has a temperature that, out of 100 Januaries, is so unlikely that it would be recorded at most 5 out of 100 times.
