A survey held at the end of December 2021 in the United States found that 42 percent of adults trusted local news to give them information they needed to vote, compared to just 23 percent who said the same about national news, though 35 percent admitted they did not trust either type of news in this respect. Local news was overall more trusted than national news, however consumers were dubious about the reliability of both when it came to reporting without bias and providing equal coverage of both sides of an issue.
