Agricultural land in use and value of the agricultural production worldwide 1961-2023

In 2001, the use of agricultural farm land peaked at 4.88 billion ha. Since then, agricultural land use has steadily declined to 4.74 billion ha in 2023. While land use has peaked and is in decline, the value of the total global agricultural production has continued to grow and nears four trillion international U.S. dollars. This is a measurement that adjusts for inflation and makes dollar values comparable.
