Consumers are likely to eat less meat or replace it with plant-based food items to a varying degree around the world. The data from this survey carried out in early 2022 suggests, that consumers in Peru and Mexico were most likely to do so. A share of 64 and 61 percent of respondents, respectively, stated that they are likely to eat less meat or to replace it with alternatives such as beans. The biggest market, by numbers of consumers, China, ranked third by the willingness of respondents to do so. In the U.S., a market with high meat consumption, only a third of consumers said they are likely to do so.
