According to a survey conducted in March 2022, product review and brand endorsement videos from key opinion leaders (KOLs) were the most effective forms of recommendation-based marketing, or "Zhongcao" in China, with over 66 percent of surveyed consumers having been convinced to purchase the suggested products. "Zhongcao", a popular Chinese term meaning "planting grass" originally, describes the effect of recommendation-based marketing strategy as "to plant a seed in one's mind".
