The mobile app of the business-to-business (B2B) marketplace of Alibaba is available in 60 countries worldwide. Since January 2023, the worldwide mobile downloads of Alibaba's app peaked in July 2023, when the monthly downloads of the B2B marketplace amounted to nearly 8.8 million.

Alibaba in the U.S.

In the United States, small to medium-sized businesses (B2B) have been increasingly buying products and services off the Alibaba marketplace. In particular, the percentage growth in transaction demand for commercial service equipment has been through the roof. From 2020 to 2021, it was the fastest growing product category on the Alibaba B2B marketplace in the U.S. at a rate of 45 percent.

Can’t beat easy

What are some of the driving factors behind the purchase behavior of B2B professionals in the United States? In a 2021 survey of said professionals, 52 percent of the respondents listed ease of use as one of the key factors they considered when selecting online sales channels. Further conveying this idea, approximately three in ten B2B buyers in the U.S. listed easy return policy and easy checkout as some of the more important components they considered when shopping online for their company in 2021.
