After the peak in 2015 following the refugee crisis in Europe that year, the number of asylum applications from unaccompanied minors dropped radically. In 2023, 80 girls and 339 boys with the status of unaccompanied minors applied for asylum in Sweden. In total, nearly 12,500 people applied for asylum in Sweden that year.
