In China, internet giants Baidu, Tencent's WeChat, Alibaba's Alipay, and Douyin all have developed their own mini-program ecologies- an ecosystem of cloud-based embedded apps within their core mobile apps. In general, life services were the most common category of mini-programs, as of January 2023. Mobile shopping accounted for 11 percent of top 100 WeChat Mini Programs.
