Renewable energy generation in Africa reached roughly 185 terawatt hours in 2020, an increase of some 5.6 percent in comparison to the previous year. In general, power produced from renewable sources has increased on the continent during the period observed. Hydropower has been the most used technology but wind and solar energy has also kept a strong growing trend. Likewise, electricity generation from renewables has been increasing in Africa, with hydro electricity as the main technology.
