North Africa has the largest natural gas reserves in Africa. As of 2019, the region accounted for nearly 50 percent of the continent's reserves of natural gas. West Africa followed, making up around 30 percent of the total, while Southern Africa had 16 percent of Africa's reserves. Nigeria, Algeria, and Mozambique are the countries with the largest natural gas reserves on the continent.
