Europe is the main destination of natural gas exports from Africa. As of 2019, it accounted for over 60 percent of the total exports - 35 percent transported as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and 27 percent transported in gaseous state via pipelines. Asia Pacific represented another leading destination of African natural gas exports, making up 23 percent of the export trade.
