North Africa is the leading region in natural gas production in Africa. In 2019, it accounted for over 70 percent of the total production of natural gas on the continent. West Africa followed, making up 23 percent of the total. In fact, Algeria, Egypt, and Nigeria are the main gas producers in Africa.
