Number of domestic and foreign animated films shown in Chinese cinema 2015-2021

In 2020 and 2021, the number of foreign animated movies imported to be shown in Chinese cinemas plummeted to 21 in 2021, compared to 42 in 2019. Before 2019, this import market enjoyed a boom, with annual movie numbers multiplied from 13 in 2015 to 42 in 2019. Domestic animated movie numbers experienced a dip until 2020, with positive developments again in 2021.
