During 2023, Lenskart was the most-funded direct-to-consumer (D2C) startup in India, with 600 million U.S. dollars raised. In comparison, FreshToHome amassed investments for 104 million U.S. dollars during the same period.
D2C e-commerce
The D2C sector grew tremendously in the past few years because of the rise in digitalization and online shopping. Due to high competition, D2C brands are focusing on personalizing and customizing products according to consumer needs to continue operating in the market. Despite this, the market size of D2C e-commerce was worth over 66 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, with the fashion and accessories segment dominating the majority of the D2C sector.
D2C investments
Direct-to-consumer (D2C) investments have been flowing during the first five months of the current fiscal year, even though funding for startups has generally dried up in India. An investment of 2.15 million U.S. dollars was made in D2C brands with a total of 105 deals in 2021.
