Of the 12 ministers in the current government in Iceland, there was a equal gender balance with six men and six women. The government is headed by prime minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, who started her second term in November 2021. She represents the Left-Green Movement, which forms a government together with the Independence Party and the Progressive Party. In the current Icelandic parliament, 47.6 percent of the MPs are women.
