Over half of South Korean consumers said they purchased makgeolli, a Korean rice wine, at large supermarkets in 2021. Regular supermarkets and convenience stores were the second and third most popular locations where people bought makgeolli. Around 40 percent reported increased consumption after the COVID-19, compared to pre-pandemic times.
