Around 40 percent of South Korean consumers said they consumed more makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice wine, after COVID-19 in 2021. Another 42 percent reported no change in their consumption compared to pre-pandemic times. Most people consumed makgeolli at home after purchasing it in supermarkets and convenience stores.
