In 2021, Netflix Korea planned to invest around 550 billion South Korean won in the creation of new Korean video content. Over the last years, Netflix's investment in Korean content has continuously grown. Korean content can be created at comparitively low costs but still be successful, as seen with the hit series Squid Game. Accordingly, domestic OTT (over the top) video service competitors also strived to ramp up their investments in Korean content.
