According to a Hong Kong consumer survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in May 2021, 48 percent of male respondents specified a high subscription fee as the main reason not to pay for subscription video-on-demand (SVOD). Alternative free or cheaper channels and no interest in the shows on offer were another two common reasons among those unwilling to subscribe.
