According to a Chinese consumer survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in June 2024, more than 40 percent of respondents cited affordability and other free or cheaper channels as the main reason not to pay for subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services. About a quarter of respondents also specified no interest in the shows on offer.
