In 2019, over half of respondents from Portugal said that they would be willing to replace meat products with plant-based substitutes, provided these substitutes were made without genetically modified organisms. This was the highest share of respondents from all of the eleven countries in which the survey was carried out. Uncertainty about these products was highest among respondents from Lithuania and Spain, where 23 percent of respondents each said they do not know if they would. In eight of the eleven countries the share of respondents that did not know if they would was twenty percent or higher.
