In 2019, survey respondents from Austria overwhelmingly stated that they would not be willing to replace meat with lab-grown meat from a cell culture. About three quarters of Austrians voiced these opinions. The country with the most positive reception to this suggestion was the Netherlands. The country is home to the company Mosa Meat which produced the first ever lab-grown meat product, a burger patty. It is therefore likely that this edge in innovation and the publicly televised tasting of the burger, have shifted public opinion towards a greater acceptance of such products.
