In 2020, approximately 28 percent of participants in the United Kingdom* (U.K.) stated in a survey that at some point during the last 12 months, they did not eat for a whole day because they could not afford it.
The base for the survey were all respondents who any adults in household cut/skipped meals, or respondent ate less/didn't eat/lost weight, in the last 12 months because there wasn't enough money for food.

Participants were asked: "In the last 12 months, did you or any other adults in your household ever not eat for a whole day because there wasn't enough money for food?"
BASE: All where any adult in household cut/skipped meals, or respondent ate less/didn't eat/lost weight, in the last 12 months because there wasn't enough money for food.
*The surveyed region includes England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Scotland is not included.
