Reddit: subreddit removal reasons H2 2023

In the second half of 2023, the most common reason for subreddit removal was spam, with 456,849 subreddits being removed and banned for this reason. Additionally, over 169 thousand communities were taken down by Reddit admins due to a lack of active moderation. While Reddit is widely known for the freedom it leaves to its users in creating topic-oriented communities, the platform is also reportedly very engaged in the moderation of its content and subreddits. Ban evasion was the third most common reason for Reddit admins to remove entire communities.
