Reddit: subreddit removal reasons H1 2024

In the first half of 2024, the most common reason for subreddit removal was spam, with 507,450 subreddits being removed and banned for this reason. Additionally, over 155 thousand communities were taken down by Reddit admins due to a lack of active moderation. While Reddit is widely known for the freedom it leaves to its users in creating topic-oriented communities, the platform is also reportedly very engaged in the moderation of its content and subreddits. Ban evasion was the third most common reason for Reddit admins to remove entire communities.
