Based on an online survey carried out between April 14 and 20, 2020, the majority (60 percent) of the businesses that took part in the study reported that there was a shortage in both national and international supply of goods. In contrast, businesses operating in the services industry claimed that they did not face shortages due to the pandemic.

The 84 firms surveyed can be divided into 38 international firms operating in Mauritius and Africa, and 46 national enterprises operating only in Mauritian markets (no exports).
Company size coverage:
Micro (1-10): 25 (11 international and 14 national)
Small (11-50): 27 (9 international and 18 national)
Medium (51-250): 19 (8 international and 11 national)
Large (>250): 13 (10 international and 3 national).
