As of 2019, Tanzania produced nearly 24 million kilograms of gemstones. The production increased massively in comparison to the previous year, when it was measured at 1.9 million kilograms. Tanzania produces a variety of gems, such as ruby, sapphire, tourmaline, and tanzanite, only found in the country's north.
