According to a survey conducted in February 2021 on the effects of online classes in South Korea, roughly 83 percent of respondents stated that they worried about the weakening of relationships with friends and the sense of community after having online classes for one year due to the coronavirus situation. The same amount of respondents also worried about the alienation of socially and economically disadvantaged pupils, and the increasing burden of home support and care.
In March 2020, the South Korean government decided that schools would start again in April via online classes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
