In 2019, approximately 37.7 percent of respondents in the United States stated that the major reason they do not add sugar to their foods and beverages is that they think it is unhealthy. Only 6.5 percent of respondents stated that their major reason for not adding sugar is because they do not like sugar. The reduction of their carbohydrate intake was named as the minor reason by 35 percent of the respondents.
