Leading owners of robotics patents in Japan 2019

As of December 31, 2019, Toyota Motor was the biggest owner of active robotics patent families in Japan. The company owned 1,366 patent families, and had 245 more active patent families than the next company. Fanuc owned the second most active families and Honda Motor the third most. The statistic is based on data provided by PatentSight.

The owner of a patent includes all patents owned by a company and its subsidiaries (by at least 50%) based on comprehensive research on corporate structures, M&A, Spin-offs, company names changes, patent transactions.
