Algeria: enrollment in primary school by gender 2020

In 2020, the primary school gross enrollment ratio (GER) in Algeria corresponded to over 111 percent. Between 2000 and 2019, the share of male enrollees has always been higher than that of female. A peak was reached in 2013, with a total average of almost 120 percent, while in more recent years the share decreased year by year.

The primary school in Algeria consists of a 5-year cycle of education. Pupils learn how to write and read, gain basic mathematics skills and notions of history, geography, social sciences, natural sciences, and arts.
