In Chile, natural gas has a big role in the residential sector, being used for cooking and heating. The average price of natural gas in households in the South American country has oscillated over the years. After a continual decrease between 2014 and 2016, prices increased for two consecutive years, reaching 91.37 U.S. dollars per million British thermal units in 2018. A year later, prices dropped again, with an year-on-year decrease of approximately 3.9 percent registered.
