According to a 2022 survey, 57.3 percent of respondents in the Philippines stated they were confident in Japan's capacity to "do the right thing" of contributing to global peace, security, prosperity and governance. In contrast, 9.5 percent had little confidence in Japan peace-keeping efforts.

Original survey question: "How confident are you that Japan will 'do the right thing' to contribute to global peace, security, prosperity and governance?"
1, 677 respondents from all ten ASEAN member states participated in the 2022 survey, of which 23.9 percent of respondents were from the Philippines. The survey was conducted both online and offline.
