Sina Weibo, China's most popular microblogging site, amassed almost 364 million monthly active app users as of September 2024. After Twitter was banned in the country, the Chinese internet company Sina launched Weibo in 2009. Other domestic tech giants - Tencent, NetEase, and Sohu - also developed their own blogging platforms later. However, none of them could compete against the well-established Sina Weibo, and were shut down one after another.
