In 2021/22, approximately 25 percent of responding medium sized farming businesses (two to less than three Standard Labor Requirement) in England stated that they used precision farming techniques. Compared to 2017/18 this constitutes a decrease of one percent. The lowest share of responding businesses that said they use precision farming techniques could be found among small businesses and spare and part-time businesses. The source notes: 'Results are weighted to represent the whole population of farm businesses that have at least 25,000 Euros of standard output as recorded in the annual June Survey of Agriculture and Horticulture. In 2018/19, this accounted for approximately 57,100 farm businesses.'
Furthermore: 'From 2018/19, the classification of farms is based on 2013 standard output coefficients. 2017/18 results have been recalculated and presented in this release to allow comparability between 2017/18 and 2018/19.'

The farm size bands used within the detailed results tables which accompany this publication are shown in the table below. Standard Labor Requirement (SLR) is defined as the theoretical number of workers required each year to run a business, based on its cropping and livestock activities.
